Oh my Egress!

Here we are in the 9th week of owning the Hosford house. Had things gone as planned we would be wrapping up the project and listing the house for sale...
However, since I decided that I want to live in the house and sell our current house, things took a bit of a detour. The past 2 weeks we have been working our bums off on finishing up projects around our house, painting, tiling the shower, plumbing updates, and a ton of cleaning...
Finally though, we reached a cut off point and are done working on projects here. We could keep going but at some point we have to stop and let the next owners take over....
In a way it was more like we flipped our current house... just likely with no/ very little profit to show for it. :/
Hosford hasn't been completely ignored though, as I mentioned before, since we plan to move into this house and *fingers crossed* hopefully stay put for a while, we wanted the basement to be super nice to finish into living space to compensate for the smaller house size.
To give the feel of "not basmenty" living space we decided to have a full size egress window installed. I always hear about egress windows but have NEVER seen one in a house.. I can say now, money well spent. Not only can we no count this area as square footage to our home because of it being a second exit but it makes the basement feel so much more spacious!
Take a look:

Digging the hole! Lots of dirt to move.

The hole was cut and the window well built and the new window installed.

Look at the difference from the inside! So big and bright! so much natural light. The window will now light up the darkest area of the basement and make the family room feel like normal first floor living space. another plus is the egress has a plastic cover and can easily house some pretty little plants!
